If you are so smart...

If you are so smart...

Another day at the driving range.

My pro was telling me things that I needed to learn and the main theme was to lift the hand higher in the backswing so that the forward stroke was steeper and not coming from the inside.

If you have been taking lessons you probably know what I mean - you just don't know how to do it.

In order to learn it he placed a ball some 30 cm behind the ball that I was to hit, and on my swing I should not hit the second ball. Of course I did, so he replaced the ball and told me to try it again.

As the training session was over I continued to practice, but found it time-consuming to always replace the second ball. Therefore I had an idea, which was very smart as it occured to me. You know how you place a club ahead of you to help you practice your aim? What I did was to place it on the line 30cm behind my ball, Great, the club was in place and my swing was fast and furious. However, there is a difference between placing a ball or a club on the ground.

And that is: when you hit a ball on your downswing it moves. A club that is hit.... breaks.

Now I have to look for another 7-iron.
