Best ball aggregate (sum)

Best ball aggregate (sum)

This is a match play for 4 participants that are divided into two teams.

All play their own ball and 2 points are awarded for each hole. One point for the lowest score (for the team) and one point for the team with the lowest sum.

If the handicap difference is large you should use Stableford points where the player with the most points gets the best ball and the team with the highest total gets the aggregate point.

This game is best when the players are fairly stable and their handicap is not too different. In my experience there should not be more than a 20- handicap points difference.

The excitement is there all the time and if the teams are fairly equal the tension will continue until the last holes. The aggregate points create much of the excitement and is a reward for a stable and good team-play.

For players with handicap between 10 and 20 the game can be played without handicap if the teams are equal. For players that have handicap higher than 20 you should use Stableford points to avoid complicated mathematical calculations. It is supposed to be fun!

Often the game can be played together with Stableford individually as an additional sidegame so that the best players are rewarded. The teamplay will anyway be the most dominant and give you lasting excitement.
