Hook or Slice ?

Hook or Slice ?

Every group has its own terms that are hard for others to understand. It took a long time before I were able to remember the difference between what a Hook and a Slice was. If I thought that I had hooked the ball, any experienced golfplayer knew that in fact it was a slice...

In addition there are two other shots that are not straight, but intentionally curved: the Draw and the Fade.

How could I tell them apart?

Beeing a right-handed golfplayer, I look at the letters S (Slice), F (Fade), D (Draw) and H (Hook). Slice and Hooks are the exact opposite, and the curve of the S shows that Slice ends up to the right of the player, so the Hook is to the left. Equally the letter F (Fade) points to the right, and curve of the D (Draw) points to the left.

Did that make it easier or are you more confused now?
